Yelloh! Village L'Atlantique is located near Bénodet, a classified seaside resort, with cinema, casino, thalassotherapy centre and several good restaurants by the sea. The market takes place on Monday morning.
« Trez » beach, located in the centre of Bénodet, offers a range of activities (sailing, windsurfing, beach kids' club…) along the 800 meter long seafront. There is also a casino along the seafront, a thalassotherapy centre, a cinema and restaurants… The walk along the promenade, which has been recently renovated, is a bit like the "Promenade des Anglais" in “Cannes”.
West of « Mousterlin » headland, the salty grasslands of the "White Sea" are separated from the ocean by the dunes of "Kerler" beach. This space stretches to the "Letty". It used to be a mecca for shellfish gathering at low tide.
This natural preserved lagoon is an outstanding spectacle. At each rise and fall of the tide, the ocean rushes in revealing new landscapes.
Anchored in Benodet in Southern Finistère, “Les Vedettes de l'Odet”, offer cruises on the Odet river and to the “Glénan” archipelago. You can embark in Bénodet as well as Loctudy, Port-La-Forêt, Concarneau and Beg-Meil, 2km from the campsite.
Bénodet's lighthouses, « le Coq » (the cock lighthouse) and the «Pyramide», were built in 1848. Before then, vessels were guided into the harbour by the alignment of Benodet's windmill and a wooden beacon in the shape of a pyramid. The first large lighthouse was built on the same spot as the pyramid, hence its name. As for the "cock" it owes its name to a submerged rock which is in the shape of a cock.
At the end of its journey the Odet flows into the Atlantic, bordered by Sainte-Marine harbour to the west and Bénodet to the east. The "Pont de Cornouaille" bridge, an impressive work of art, links the two towns.
The Odet river rises at about forty kilometers north-east from Quimper, in the heart of the “Black Mountains”. Its owes is title of the "most beautiful river in France" to its twists and turns.
The famous navigator Eric Tabarly set up home in “Gouesnac'h”, in one of these beautiful properties, where you would often see his yacht “Pen Duick” at anchor.
