Embankment works made between 1927 and 1930 subtracted 127 hectares of back dune from the tides. Seawater entered once into the current polder through a gully now closed. However, there is an entry of water by aqueduct which you see at the “Grand Large”. Man then operates the valves to control the water in the polder.
3 - Trail in the heart of Mousterlin Polder
The Kérangaërel dike path is lined by very old blackthorn and tamarisk. Sometimes, holding the ear, you may hear the peaks (Woodpecker or green) banging on poplars in order to mark their territory and build their houses. In water, shrimp and fry swarming. In the trees and on the islets, many species of birds rest, feed or nest.

Returning, go around Mousterlin headland to the small fishing harbor. To the west, Kerneuc beach and beyond Kerler beach. Farther west, behind the dune, coastal very sheltered marsh: “La Mer Blanche” (The White Sea), where the ocean penetrates through a gully with the tides.
